Scratches show up most when the car is clean, and they're usually the first thing a dealer points to when you trade in. If a scratch has gone through to bare metal, rain and road salt can get underneath, so it's worth having it sealed before the paint starts to lift.

From scratch to finish

Assess. Your close-up photo shows us whether the damage is in the lacquer, the base coat or deeper.
Prepare. We clean, flatten and fill the scratch so the surface is level before any paint goes on.
Colour. Paint is mixed from your car's code and tinted if the existing paint has faded with age.
Finish. We apply clear lacquer, cure it, polish it to blend with the rest of the panel and talk you through aftercare.

When it's more than a scratch

If the panel is dented as well, the job becomes a dent removal with paintwork. Scrapes on a plastic bumper are covered under bumper repairs, and damage that runs over several panels is priced as car body repairs.

Scratch and paint questions.

Will my scratch need painting, or can it be polished?

If it hasn't gone through the clear coat, polishing may be enough. Send a close-up in daylight and we'll tell you which.

Can you match a metallic or pearl finish?

Yes. We mix from the paint code and blend the colour into the panel. Tell us if the car has had paintwork before, as that can affect the match.

The key mark goes along the whole side. Can you still help?

Usually, yes. Take a photo of each panel plus one of the whole side and we'll price the full length as one job.

Can I leave the car with you while I'm at work?

We repair it where it is, so if your employer allows it, we can do the work in your work car park while you're inside.

Is the paint repair guaranteed?

Yes. Paint and body repairs are guaranteed until you sell the car under our Lifetime Ownership Warranty. Rust and faults from other people's earlier repairs are excluded. Our terms and conditions have the details.
